Valentine Classic

The Valentine's Race has had two lives, and both are interesting. For years it ran as a tour, one of only two stage races on the Belizean calendar, and it exposed something the classics never could. Belizean riders are raised on one-day races of enormous length, where the winner is whoever survives. A tour asks a different question, and the answer was uncomfortable: consecutive editions were decided not by anyone winning a road stage but by time gained in the individual time trial, and both went to Mexican riders, Ignacio Prado and then Juan Manuel Yapur.
