Why Breakaway exists

Belize has a great cycling history. It just isn’t in one place.

Nearly a century of racing lives in newspaper microfilm, in spreadsheets on a federation laptop, in comment threads, in shoeboxes of photographs, and in the memory of the people who were there. Every year, a little more of it goes quiet.

Breakaway is the work of gathering it up — checking it, structuring it, and giving it a permanent address. So a rider’s grandchildren can look up what they did on a Sunday in 1983, and find it.
