Anthony Hutchinson took the Cross Country back to back in 1972 and 1973, having announced himself with a third place in 1971 behind two Mexican riders. His cry of “Vamos, paisa!” became one of the enduring phrases of Belizean cycling, remembered alongside the greatest champions the race has produced.
