Donald Lightburn

Donald “Baboo” Lightburn started racing in his late teens and built a reputation as a hard, relentlessly consistent pacer. He won the Cross Country in 1931 and took second in 1933, then won the first two editions ever run north to Corozal Town, in 1935 and 1936. He retired in 1937, then returned for the first non-stop race in 1948 and led it to mile 8 of the homeward leg.
